Over There

about

On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, our friend and brother Lex Roberson went to be with Jesus. It was much sooner than any of us expected and his absence left a gaping hole in our hearts and the hearts of all who loved him. We miss him. But we know that he is with Jesus and that causes us to rejoice even in the midst of our sadness...

This song is a tribute to the man that played music with us, made us laugh until we cried, loved deeply and lived passionately. Above all this man knew and loved Jesus because he knew that Jesus loved him.

We can't wait to join him in that eternal worship service one day... over there, with "nothing between us but laughter and Jesus."

lyrics

When I die
Don't bring me back with CGI
'Cause that's not me
It's just a shadow of the one I used to be
'Cause in that moment
I'll be me-er than I've ever been
No, death is not the end

There's a home
Oh, there's a mansion on a hill and you've moved in
And it's real-er than what's real has ever been
And you're warming up the band to get them ready for when
You welcome home your friends

And you'll be waiting there for me
And all at once we'll finally see
When this is over
I'll see you over there

When you left
It sucked the air out of the room and we sat stunned
All the moments that we shared down to this one
And in a dream I saw you walking up the stage to us
As if to say to us

I'll be waiting there for you
I know that you will make it, too
Once this is over
I'll see you over there

Where the worship service never ends
I can't wait to play with you again
I'm so tired of these abrupt farewells
It never gets easier

And the Bride
She is longing for the day the Groom returns
The kids they miss their Father, yeah, they yearn
For redemption and reunion with the ones they love
We'll see you up above

And you'll tell a joke, like you always do
And fill us with hope, like you always do
Sorrow and sighing will flee away
And the river of gladness will heal all pain

The night will pass over, as morning breaks over there
And joy will take over — Love will reign over there
We'll laugh like old times, drink from that new vine
We'll make sweet music, just like we used to
All we believed in, our eyes will be seeing
Nothing between us but laughter and Jesus
So we'll be right over
We'll see you over there
