Don't Let My Love Grow Dim

by Phil Laeger

/

about

A prayer based on the letter of Jesus to the church in Sardis (the book of Revelation, chapter 3, verses 1-6).

The book of 1 John tells us that we love Him because He first loved us. That is the message that has been resonating with me lately. He begins the work in us and He will be faithful to complete it.

I am reminded of something that Archbishop Desmond Tutu once said about prayer and spending time alone with God,

“Like when you sit in front of a fire in winter — you are just there in front of the fire. You don't have to be smart or anything. The fire warms you.”

I pray that the fire of the Holy Spirit—the love of the Father—will warm your heart as you listen to this song and let Him love you.

lyrics

Don't let my love grow dim
Don't let my love grow dim
I don't want a name to be alive
And yet be dead inside
Stoke the coals inside this heart again
Don't let my love grow dim

Don't let my love grow dim
Don't let my love grow dim
I don't want a name to be alive
And yet be dead inside
Holy Spirit fire burn again
Don't let my love grow dim

Don't let my love grow dim
Don't let my love grow dim
I don't want a name to be alive
And yet be dead inside
Breathe upon me with Your gentle wind
Don't let my love grow dim

Lord, fix my eyes on You
Fix my eyes on You
Keep me on the straight and narrow way
And faithful in this race
Set apart in all I say and do
Lord, fix my eyes on You

Oh...
Don't let my love grow dim
Don't let my love grow dim
Cause I don't want a name to be alive
And yet be dead inside
Stoke the coals inside this heart again
Don't let my love grow dim

Oh...
Lord, keep me close to You
Oh, keep me close to You
I just wanna give You everything
And let Your grace shine through
Just receive Your love and give it, too
Empty out my life in praise to You
Don't let my love
Don't let my love grow dim
